RSK STATS Environment, Health and Safety began life in 1994 when Robert West Management was formed as a subsidiary of Robert West Group, a multi-discipline engineering consultancy.

Tasked with diversifying the Group's services, it quickly established itself a respected, independent project management company, primarily operating in the process and management sectors. Following the introduction of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994, the company broadened its remit to offer planning supervisor services.

It proved a major turning point, with escalating workloads enabling it to expand its services to encompass other aspects of construction health and safety such as auditing, training and management system development.

In 1999, Robert West Management's directors bought itself out of out the Robert West Group and, a year later, it was acquired by the Arthur D Little (ADL) International Group and renamed Health & Safety Management Ltd.

When ADL went into Chapter 11 Administration in 2002, Robert West Management's management team bought the company back from the administrators.

In June 2003, Health & Safety Ltd joined forces with the RSK Group, enabling it to offer a significantly greater range of services and gain access to a more diverse client-base. Through its own burgeoning connections and by complementing RSK Group's environmental projects, it has become a company of international repute, working for clients from the local government and public and private sectors around the world.

In July 2009, the company was rebranded as RSK STATS Environment, Health & Safety following the acquisition of STATS, 130-person environmental consultancy and building materials authority.
